Thanks for sharing this information. This book is a short and simple read to remove all barriers for comprehension. It shares some of our “lived experiences” as practitioners, patients and family caregivers. It was written for the individual thinking about going into healthcare as a career and for those clinicians currently working in health fields. There is also a section after each chapter where the reader can record “notes of reflection” to unpack any feelings or thoughts they may arise from something covered in the chapter beforehand. Enjoy the book and let my co-author, Risa Tolbert and I know what you think! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
My “New Motto” and saying to live by in 2023 - if blessed to see and experience a New Year is “ Holding up the light” which for me means: let me live life in a way that lights the path for myself, family and friends even those folks in this world that I do not know or have not met yet. All of us as humans have been exposed to some long, life-altering moments with the pandemic, just “being alive” and having complex, chronic health care needs for ourselves or families and we could use a little grace and we can all potentially give a little more grace to our fellow humans. So that is why in 2023, I want to be a person that “holds up the light” even though my arm and being may become weary along the way, I will try to spread light in spaces I am blessed to enter. Do you have something as an individual you will aspire toward next year or now? Have you thought about it in all the roles in life in which you serve or even as a patient and family partner or advisor? Do you see yourself as an agent of change or influence in the rooms you are entering? Or are you too overwhelmed to process or unpack these things at this time? So much food for thought but I digress at times, so I will close will this partial statement and you can fill in the blank and share with us or leave blank. In 2023, I will…
For me, I will be holding up the light. - Connie M.😄
